Saint Paul’s lifestyle review of Shadows (blog)

Saint Paul's LifestyleIn 2011, Vice, whilst with Genius Collective was lucky enough to be supported by the beast that is Saint Paul’s Lifestyle, a multi media giant that combine their blog, live shows, releases, a clothing line and many other strands. Rose Paul checked out “Shadows”, and this is what she had to say…..

” It is no secret that we are extremely excited about Jimmy Davis. His raw voice touches us and it is an absolute joy to see him working with Delegates Of Rhyme duo. There seems to be a natural harmony between Jimmy Davis and Delegates Of Rhyme, not only in the vocals, but also the sentiment within and without the words themselves. The meaning and discontent within the lyrics is echoed beautifully in the discordant dramatic jazzy music, which underscores and reinforces the animated and important voices. This is a tremendously exciting union of musical talent. Their impressive voices are housed and showcased in Wezism’s mesmerizingly shot video ‘Sometimes you have to embrace the dark side; don’t get it twisted though.”

A massive thank you to Saint Pauls and Rose for their support, and check out the full review here –

The countdown continues…only 1 day to go…

shadows countdown - 1 dayIn just 1 day time, The Delegates Of Rhyme will be revealing the first part of their visual movement in a collaboration between The Delegates Of Rhyme alongside Jimmy Davis, Birmingham based Wezism, a video heavyweight, who has worked with the likes of Sonny Jim, Kosyne, Mylo Stone & Percy Filth, Secret Wars and many more, and Leftlung, an incredibly talented photographer from Birmingham, who’s natural and emotive imagery offer the perfect building block for this project. Over the next five days, we’ll be revealing 5 different images, creating the first parts in a puzzle which will be unleashed this Saturday – 15th June 2013 at midday…..

SO TODAY WE’D LIKE TO INTRODUCE VICE!!!

As the production arm of The Delegates Of Rhyme, Vice has been quietly doing his thing for years within the Hip Hop, Funk and Soul scene across Birmingham and more. As a teenager, Vice won a The National Prize For Young Poets award in Oxford. His fascination with lyrics led to him becoming a workshop leader, teaching lyric writing, MCing, music production and more. Over time, he established a name for himself and Street Soul Productions, his self started label, with which he worked alongside 7 artists from around the World, helping them to develop their skills. In a bid to expand the name, Vice started Basement Sessions, an online podcast and blog community, which featured interviews with the likes of Soweto Kinch, M9, Akala, Kosyne and more. Overtime it expanded to a team of DJs and guest mixes, and he managed to gain £5,000 to setup Basement Sessions Live in Birmingham. In addition, the Headspace Mixtape (a collab between Basement Sessions x xHypedog x Soapbox x Sensei) put the name on the map, featuring exclusive tracks from some of the UKs best.

In 2009, Vice created The Genius Collective, a 7 piece Hip Hop / Soul / Funk band, initially front by himself and Kezia Soul. The band quickly won praise and support from BBC Introducing, Craid Charles, Tom Robinson and more. They’re rework of Amy Winehouse’s “Stronger Than Me” set them apart from the crowd, and is still played regularly around the World by DJ’s and supported by blogs:

Vice has also been developing links on the production side, working with local and international artists, including Great Scott, for whom he produced their recent single “Indie Rock and Jaeger Bombs:

In addition, Vice has been working with Birmingham based MC Kinnie Daley, and produced 4 and co-produced 2 of the last few #MelodiesOfANiceGuy:

Vice’s collaboration with Donnie Numeric..The Delegates Of Rhyme, is a clumination of all of Vice’s previous experiences. Assemblage offers a seamless blend of live instrumentation and classic Hip Hop sampling. Tomorrow the movement begins, the shadows are coming, so are you ready?!

SO TODAY WE’RE UNLEASHING JIMMY DAVIS!!!

Jimmy Davis is undoubtedly one of Birmingham’s most driven MC’s. His youth work has helped changed the lives of hundreds of young people across the Midlands, and his music reflects that passion and commintment to change. With hid head firmly screwed on, and never veering from his goals of exposure of GOOD music, Jimmy has established an amazing reputation,  for himself, collaborating and performing with some of the best talent the UK has to offer, including his long term friend and musical partner Ed Sheeran –

Alongside his collaborations, Jimmy and his band The Barefoot Apostles have been spreading their musical vibes across the country, and are steadily building a loyal fanbase. With a whole host of festivals planned for Summer 2013, Jimmy and the Apostles are set to make a big impact on the live scene –

Jimmy and Vice of The Delegates Of Rhyme met a few years back whilst running music production workshops in Birmingham. Since then the duo have kept in touch. When Genius Collective’s orginal bassist Tee Pett (now called the Iceman!) joined Jimmy’s band, the 2 groups formed a strong connection, and regularly shared stages across the city. When the Delegates project arrived, it was a natural step for Jimmy to be involved and continue the musical bond.Be sure to look out for this incredible lyricist, who thankfully is beginning to receive the massive amount of respect and support he deserves, including support from SBTV –

Until tomorrow people…when there’ll be only one day left!!!!

SO TODAY WE’D LIKE TO INTRODUCE WEZISM!!!

Wesley Alcorn aka. Wezism, is a Hip Hop head based in Birmingham, who’s vivid and striking photos, videos and designs have garnered him praise and collaborations with some of the best artists the city has to offer. He is a regular collaborator with the Eat Good Records family, and recently was involved in shooting the visuals for the new collaboration between Aerosolik artists Percy Filth and Bristol based MC Mylo Stone. He’s captured footage for the likes of Secret Wars, filming some incredibly graffiti writers do their thing, including this lunchtime madness with Brum based graf heavyweight Tempo33:

As a master of utilising the HD format, Wezism’s style is rapidly being noticed and respected and becoming ever more far reaching. As mentioned, he works with the Eat Good fam, and to end proceedings for today we thought we’d offer up the first “Howdy Doody” session with Louis Den / Eat Good Boss and Rhyming vet Kosyne. Until tomorrow friends!:
